PIR Saturday Night Drags

Later that night, we regrouped at the PIR Saturday night drags to mingle with the ricers and give them an education in what real cars are suppose to look and perform like.

Class in Session.jpg (43252 bytes) Rob, Cody and Jenesa explaining the finer points to Ken (me) of how to get his car successfully down the strip without looking like an idiot.
Lining up for drags.jpg (43174 bytes) In the staging lanes.  Cody has agreed to give me a 'lesson' if I line up with him.  I can hardly wait.
Rob Burnout.jpg (49404 bytes) Rob was up first giving a demonstration on proper burn-out technique.  Picture doesn't do it justice and the crowd was loving it.  He is lining up against Doug, the other newbie at the track.
Cody and Ken burnout1.jpg (51687 bytes) Cody and I are now up and going through the burn-out routine.
Cody and Ken Lining up.jpg (47775 bytes) Lining up.  Probably too late to turn back now.
Cody and Ken lining up 2.jpg (49702 bytes) Final staging
After the first run.jpg (39921 bytes) Back from the first run and just happy I didn't suck to bad.  First pass was a 12.4 at 116 which was OK by me.

Click on pic to left to see Cody taking me to school on the second run as the announcer points out.

Results - From Memory

Rob turned in the fastest run at 12.0x with his '01 GTS with 3:55 gears, tubes and filters and missing muffler system, offset somewhat by the parachute on the back and missing gas peddle.

Rob then switched to Ron's stock ACR later in the night and clicked off the second fastest run of the night at 12.1x to illustrate for Cody that it really is the driver and not the gears.

Cody turned in the 3rd fastest time at 12.3x

Doug and I both ran 12.4x  The way Doug was improving every run, he would have hit 11's with one more run!

I was packing the most HP, but couldn't deliver.  Next time I'm letting Rob drive my car into the 11's so I have some bragging rights (well at least so my car does).

Dean and Ron both ran, but I did not get their times, but I think Dean was in the upper 12's.

Ron also brought and ran one of his Panteras for a shakedown run.
