Troutdale Parade
Larger unretouched pics.
Warning: Size is about 500K
Prestaging the cars at the Troutdale
parade. There were 8 cars total that showed up for the event.
Heading down the parade route. Rob is in
the lead with with Ron and Sharon in his red/silver ACR and John in his
black RT/10
Looking back at the parade route. Doug
and his wife Elizabeth in their blue/white GTS and Dean and Doris in his
red RT/10. On the other side is Cody and Jenesa in their FE and
Larry and Kathy in their red GTS. There was also an unknown '03 in
the mix.
The group decided to cool off at the local
McMenamin's Edgefield pub.
Another shot of the cars.
Crowd is forming around......
Ron's red/silver ACR to check out the results
of his and Sharon's off-road excursion on the way to the
parade. Cody provided some needed fascia realignment around
the headlight.
PIR Saturday Night Drags
Later that night, we regrouped at the PIR Saturday night
drags to mingle with the ricers and give them an education in what
real cars are suppose to look and perform like.
Rob, Cody and Jenesa explaining the finer
points to Ken (me) of how to get his car successfully down the strip without looking
like an idiot.
In the staging lanes. Cody has agreed to
give me a 'lesson' if I line up with him. I can hardly wait.
Rob was up first giving a demonstration on proper burn-out
technique. Picture doesn't do it justice and the crowd was loving
it. He is lining up against Doug, the other newbie at the track.
Cody and I are now up and going through the burn-out routine.
Lining up. Probably too late to turn back
now.
Final staging
Back from the first run and just happy I didn't
suck to bad. First pass was a 12.4 at 116 which was OK by me.
Click on pic to left to see Cody taking me to school on the second run as
the announcer points out.
Results - From Memory
Rob turned in the fastest run at 12.0x with his '01 GTS with 3:55
gears, tubes and filters and missing muffler system, offset somewhat by
the parachute on the back and missing gas peddle.
Rob then switched to Ron's stock ACR later in the night and clicked off
the second fastest run of the night at 12.1x to illustrate for Cody that
it really is the driver and not the gears.
Cody turned in the 3rd fastest time at 12.3x
Doug and I both ran 12.4x The way Doug was improving every run, he would
have hit 11's with one more run!
I was packing the most HP, but couldn't deliver. Next time I'm
letting Rob drive my car into the 11's so I have some bragging rights
(well at least so my car does).
Dean and Ron both ran, but I did not get their times, but I think Dean
was in the upper 12's.
Ron also
brought and ran one of his Panteras for a shakedown run.
